Picture Quality: 79/100

Photo resolution: 12 mpxl (interpolated)

Video resolution: 1280 x 720

Flash Type: Red Glow IR

Day pictures have poor color and a tendency to overexpose in sunlight. Clarity is good when there is no motion, but overall day pictures are below average.

Night pictures have a tendency to overexposure on close animals, but outside of that, they are bright, clear, evenly illuminated and impressive. We consider the night images to be a real strength of the Wildgame 360°.

[powr-image-slider id=4b5a2566_1503073134]

This 360 game camera's video quality tends to perfectly mimic picture quality. Poor color and overexposure in sunlight. Night videos have strong flash, good clarity and illumination but would greatly benefit from a self-adjusting flash.

Megapixel Ratings:

In the past, many people get confused with the megapixel rating trail camera manufacturers advertise. Companies inflate the mpxl rating to attract eyes to their products. They do this through interpolation, which digitally adds megapixels to a photo without actually improving the picture.

The best way to judge picture quality is to look at actual pictures. You will notice this the most when you zoom in on a full-size image that a camera has taken. The details of the photo will appear hazy or even digitized. This is normal and to be expected of a 360 game camera.

Battery Life: 50/100

Picture & Video Resting Power (on): 3.5 mW

Picture Daytime/Nighttime Power Consumption: 3.42 Ws | 8.14 Ws

Video Daytime/Nighttime Power Consumption: 29.23 Ws | 247.01 Ws

If this Wildgame 360 trail game camera were to take 35-day and 35-night pictures every 24 hours, the Wildgame 360 would last 5.1 months in the field on a set of 8 AA Lithium Batteries. This can vary based on how far the IR LEDS/Lens have to swivel to take each photo.

If this camera were to take 15-day and 15-night videos (10-second videos) every 24 hours, it would last 0.8 months in the field on a set of lithium batteries.

Detection Circuit: 42/100

Picture Trigger & Recovery Speed: 1.64 s. / 14.6 s.

Video Trigger & Recovery Speed: 2.38 s. / 15.2 s.

Detection Range: 100 ft.

This Wildgame 360 trail game camera is slow which should be expected since the lens and IR LEDS have to swivel in place to take a photo.

Detection range is outstanding. Place this Wildgame Innovations 360 trail camera in the middle of a field on a tripod mount and it can detect a ton of ground.

Quality of Design: 75/100

Dimensions: 8.25" x 4" x 4.5"

Battery Type: 8 AA Batteries

External Battery Jack: None

The construction and design of the Wildgame 360 are built around the idea of placing the camera on a tripod in the middle of an open food plot, field, or similar scenario. With that in mind, the overall design of the 360 game camera is completely different from any other camera on the market.

The first thing you will notice is the 360° is large, bulky, and relatively heavy. The camera's lens and IR LED field swivel around to take the pictures from the zone motion is detected in. The upside is you can cover a TON of ground with just one camera. The downside is there are quite a few moving parts that traditional cameras don't have.

The camera's 1/4" x 20 tripod insert is located on the bottom of the camera. As you would expect, this camera does not have a cable bracket as locking this unit would be nearly impossible when used the way it is designed. The case of the camera has a solid, sturdy feel. The latch is small and feels a bit flimsy.

The batteries are located in a removable tray on the bottom of the camera. The SD card removes easily and is located well. There is no external battery jack.

Programming the camera uses the traditional Wildgame setup. The writing is small and the LCD screen is rudimentary by today's standards. Programming is not difficult, though, so you shouldn't have trouble getting the camera up and running. We were happy to see a few popular setting options like:

  • AM, PM or 24-hour mode
  • PIR Sensitivity
  • Exposure Control

Bring your reading glasses when setting the camera up, the writing is quite small and difficult to read.

Durability on the Wildgame 360° trail camera is unknown at this time. In our past experience with early models of the Moultrie Panoramic 180°, cameras with moving parts tend to have higher failure rates. This is not an indictment on the 360°, but it is worth keeping an eye on. We will update this review if any serious defect presents itself.

This unique game camera is capable of taking pictures anywhere in a 360° field of view. The Wildgame 360 takes great night pictures, detects a HUGE area and is easy to setup. However, slow detection speeds, average day pictures, and mediocre battery life are real drawbacks.

FAQ's: Trail Camera

Q: How do I view the pictures?

A: There are a number of ways to do this. Pictures/videos are stored on the SD card you place in the camera.

  • View pictures on your computer. Plug the SD card in a desktop computer or laptop via the built-in SD card reader or use a USB reader if your computer doesn't have one. This method works for most tablets as well. With this method, we recommend having two SD cards per camera so you can swap them in the field.
  • View pictures on your smartphone. Choose between the iOS Reader for iPhones and the Android Reader. Phone readers require an app to access the photos, you can read more about these via the previous links.
  • Trail Camera Viewers. While more expensive, handheld viewers are useful if you don't have a smartphone or run multiple trail cameras.

Q: Will this trail camera trigger on small animals (birds, rodents, etc.)?

A: Trail cameras detect on a combination of heat and movement, so, yes, small mammals will trigger the camera. However, if you are going after smaller warm-blooded mammals, we recommend getting the camera closer to your target. For best performance, place the camera in an area that would enable picture detection from 3 - 20 ft.

Q: Can animals see the infrared flash on this camera?

A: Yes. This is a red glow trail cameras, meaning it has a faint red glow when taking pictures or videos at night. Humans and animals can see this if looking at the camera. This does not "light up" the woods, though.
